Description

As you know, since 2002, the Creative and Performing Arts Center (CAPAC) has brought outstanding, diverse arts programming and educational opportunities to Prince William County through stage productions, workshops, and musical entertainment. We are excited to announce that in addition to our long-standing focus on the arts, we are expanding into the area of STEAM—science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. We want to use the performing arts and sciences to educate, entertain and encourage individuals of all ages.

CAPAC is establishing Full STEAM Ahead: A Theater Robotics Summer Day Camp, the five-week camp program to introduce young people, between the ages of 10 and 13, from underrepresented PWC communities to the worlds of theater and robotics. Through performing arts, campers will engage in STEAM education, and the lessons will enable them to learn, practice and problem-solve to reach theater and robotic program goals, ultimately creating robots that will speak during CAPAC performances. To provide this valuable, educational experience to youth in our community, we need funding.

CAPAC is participating in the first-ever PWC Gives—a 24-hour fundraising program developed for non-profits serving the greater PWC area. Between September 9 and 10, please visit the CAPAC page on the PWC Gives website to make a donation toward our first-ever STEAM camp. We appreciate anything you are willing to contribute to help us bring this exciting collaboration of arts and sciences to underserved young people in our community.
